Global Design = „Global Theory“ ?

Während der US Automesse traf ich Fords Chefdesigner J. Mays ("Group Vice President of Global Design and Chief Creative Officer at Ford Motor Company"). Er gehört zu einem der maßgeblichen Autodesigner weltweit. Und er traf eine sehr spannende Aussage: Consumers today look for good – great – design. They are eager to express themselves and display their individuality through the products they purchase and the companies they favor. What is unique to our time is the convergence of what is considered great design: consumers share information across the globe at an incredible speed through social media and other channels. Obviously there are also differences from one market to the other. The challenge is being able to design a product that is appreciated at the global level but also resonates with the local customers, providing them that unique sense of ownership.
